All Moved In!

OK so I haven't put up any pictures or decorations but we have the furniture in. I have an idea of how I would like to decorate it but I need to save my money and do some searching for a bargain. I need to find some curtain tie backs as well. (I didn't realize that curtains and rods and tie backs were so expensive! ~ and we have 6 very large windows!)

In this corner is where another one of my newly refinished cabinets is going to go. That black swirly decoration is going to go somewhere on the wall. I think that I would like a few more of those. They will look so cool in here.

Here is another project that we are struggling with... The surround sound system! If anybody wants to volunteer to help, we would surly take the help. I am also trying to decide if we should keep this very cute entertainment center. It doesn't fit the main component of the sound system so it would have to sit on the top and that will bug me. If I do decide to keep it then I will have to paint it black as well.

Here is one of the cabinets that I refinished. Well Yancey did the work of painting them. He did tell me that it was my deal and he was not helping me do it. I sanded them and got them all ready to be painted. He showed up to help me push them outside so I could paint them with a sprayer. Next thing I know... he is painting them. I swear that if you have a power tool they feel like they are the only ones who can use them properly! I was actually happy because I didn't want to do it anyway!

This is one of the other newly painted cabinets. Sorry that you cant see it very well. This is one of the cutest ones. I still have to sand the edges so it will look the way I wanted them to.

This was my favorite find and the prettiest one that I purchased. I bought them in September and stored them in the barn for the winter. Big mistake!! This is the one that I didn't want to paint and it is the only one that got ruined by the weather. This one we had still wrapped in shrink wrap and the water from the roof dripped on the top of this and ran down the inside of the plastic. I was sick when I saw the damage. I think that I fixed it OK though.

I put some stain that matched the color over the ruined sections of the cabinet and this is how it looks now. I think I will put this one down stairs in my scrapbook area to hold some of my stuff. This one is SUPER heavy so we will need some help to carry it in. Yancey will be happy to have it out of his garage.

This is how they looked before I... Yancey painted them. :)

They were really cute before and they looked great the way they were but I wanted the furniture to be black, and because I got such a great deal on all of them I was OK to paint them.

SEE... they really are cool. We remembered that we had the little stand in the upstairs of our barn and decided to paint it too. Our awesome neighbor gave us these 2 little stands a while ago and one of them ended up in Bailey's room back then. I didn't actually know that there were 2 of them until I helped Yancey move something up there and saw it a few days before we painted these.

They all have such a cute character about them. I want to change the handles on them to brushed nickle. They will look much better and a little more alike.

OK... so here is the story on them. I wanted some cabinets to store games, blankets, videos, Wii games, and controllers. I had always cussed Yancey for spending too much time on the KSL classifieds. I thought it was so lame and I had no idea why he was sooooo obsessed with it. Well I decided to look for some cabinets on there and then he teased ME about being obsessed! I soon found these awesome cabinets for a great deal. I am still not sure how I talked him into going on tour with me to pick them all up. (what a great guy!) I had one in Layton, Syracuse, Murry, Sandy and Riverton. I purchased all 5 of them for only $400.00!! I thought it was a great bargain. They are all really nice!! There is still one of them in the barn and not pictured with these but I think I will paint it (not sure what color) and put it in Corbin's room to hide some of his toys.

Finished Construction!! ~Finally!

There was a lot of blood, sweat, and tears but it is finally finished! We are sooooo happy about this! It turned out great and we are so lucky to have a garage and a new extra large family room ~ with an extra bathroom.

The siding turned out great and someday we will redo the siding on the old part of the house to match.

This is how it looks now with the new grey shutters on the windows.

This is the inside of the garage where Yancey decided to build a "hunting closet" under the stairs. This is great so I don't have to trip over anymore hunting items in our room!

This is a picture of the the garage with sheet rock but I didn't have one with the room all finished. The husband thinks this would be the most important room but as you can see by the lack of photos... I don't see it that way.

This is the southwest corner of the family/game room before it was finished. The buckets in the corners still were catching snow dripping from the roof at that time.

This is the same corner of the room and now it is painted. Bailey and I did this really cool faux finish on the walls after Yancey painted them. It was a pain in the rear but we believe it was worth it and we love it.

This was picture was taken the day that the carpet was installed. The boys ran in circles and hollered for an hour! I think they were as sick of this build as we were at this point.

This is the bathroom. We thought this was one of the greatest ideas because of the extra shower it would give us. We already had 2 bathrooms. One just had a tub and the other a tub-shower. We all showered at night except for Corbin and he always took a bath. This was going to save us a lot of time if two could shower at the same time... or so we thought! Now ALL of us shower in this bathroom including Corbin.

It is a 4 foot shower and it is really nice. This really did turn out to be so nice to have.

It has been such a big dream for so long. Sometimes I will just walk upstairs, look around, then pinch myself just so I know it is not a dream.

I have always heard that if your marriage can survive a construction project then you can make it through anything... I believe it ~ and let's just say that we are all happy that this is finished and we are NEVER going to do this again! If the house burns down now, then we are getting an apartment. :)
